Thomas and his brother, John A., moved to the Decatur area in 1832 from somewhere in Kentucky. They purchased land together but a year after Thomas married, he purchased land in Lebanon, Boone County, Indiana. John followed and married in 1840.

Dr. James McWorkman, also a resident of Indiana, asked Thomas to move to Missouri and around 1869, Thomas did so. His brother remained in Indiana. He was a farmer in Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri, and both he and Martha died there.

Henderson came to Indiana in 1822 with his father. He was in the nursery business with his brother John while in Indiana. He moved to near Salem, Iowa, by 1837 and opened a nursery there.

After reading of Lewis and Clark’s adventures, he was determined to leave Iowa. In 1847, he took his cargo of living trees across the plains and over the Rocky Mountains to the Willamette Valley, the first cultivated or grafted fruit to reach the Pacific Northwest.

John came with his father, a Quaker of Randolph County, North Carolina, when he migrated to Indiana in 1822. John was a Quaker also and in the nursery business with his brother Henderson in Indiana. In 1850 he moved on once again and started a nursery business in San Lorenzo, Alameda County, California.

George Leech attended school and trained for the ministry in Dublin, Ireland. In 1774 at the age of 18, and with his 20-year-old brother, he came to America.

George fought in the American Revolution, serving from 15 August 1776 through 17 January 1781 under the command of Colonel Richard Butler in the Continental Line of the North Pennsylvania Regiment. During that period, he was brevetted to Captain by a resolution of Congress.

George emigrated from Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in 1784 to Vincennes, Knox County, Indiana. While in Pennsylvania, George had studied law, and in 1805 he was appointed a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas for Knox County, Indiana.

Stephen lived in Ft. Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, in 1861. According to his Civil War pension papers he lived in Ligonier, Indiana, 1865-1871; Kingsbury, Indiana, 1871-1884; Republican City, Nebraska, 1884-1892; and Hayannis and Bridgeport, Nebraska, 1892-1926.

From 1920 until his death in 1927, he spent his time between Bridgeport, Nebraska, and Centralia, Washington. He would go to Washington when it got cold in Nebraska. He joined Company C, 30th Indiana Volunteers on 27 August 1861 at the age of 19. He was discharged at Vicksburg 19 January 1865. He was a farmer by trade.
