In 1852, the parents and six living children immigrated to the United States on the ship, Tanners. They settled in West Point, Tippecanoe County, Indiana, where Peter Peterson became the spiritual father to his fellow Swedes living in the area. He and his oldest son, Johan Peter, died in the cholera epidemic of 1853-54. After living in West Point for four years, the family moved to Red Wing, Goodhue County, Minnesota.

Issac spent his boyhood and teenage years in Indiana, specifically in Deerfield and Union City. He moved from Indiana to Minnesota about 1879. The 1880 census lists him, his wife Lavina, and son Frank as living in Hartford Township, Todd County, Minnesota. Issac was a Civil War veteran. He served in the 8th Indiana Infantry, Company G from 1861 until he received a disability discharge in 1862.

Meredith moved to Lorain, Ohio, in 1919 with his family but returned to Indiana the same year. He lived in Fulton County and then Starke County until 1959 when he left for Arkansas.

He was a farmer and a carpenter, but worked as a Standard Oil gas salesman and delivery man in Indiana. He also worked in a wood product factory in Arkansas. He was unaware it was his uncle who was raising him until he was told at age 21.

He served on the town council in Everton, Arkansas and helped to get the town streets paved.

Ferne’s great-grandparents came to Indiana between 1802 and 1824. Ferne’s father, John Ethelbert, moved Ferne and the rest of the family to Lyman Township, Ford County, Illinois, and they were listed there in the 1910 census. When her family returned to Indiana, Ferne remained behind.

Ferne married a third generation American and they lived their lives in Iroquois County, Illinois, as farmers. She was extremely active in the Thawville Congregational Church. Her granddaughter got her love of walking cemeteries from Ferne, who traced her family history to the Mayflower.

Clarence left from Fairmount, Grant County, Indiana, after his divorce in 1915 and moved to Michigan. He enlisted in the military in White Cloud, Michigan on 3 June 1918. He served overseas from 23 July 1918 until his death. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery on 26 June 1921. In 1926, Lula married Walter Hillsamer in Grant County.
