Additional information about person:
His Father was Mathias Zener a Hessian Solder in the Revolutionary War who was captured at the Battle of Yorktown and remained in America after the war. He married a German/American woman in Virginia after the war and died in Clark County Indiana in 1815.

By 1812 he was in Kentucky as he fought in the War of 1812 with the Kentucky Militia, married in 1818 in Breckenridge County, Kentucky – War of 1812 Bounty Land in Jefferson County, Indiana, all children born there.

During the Civil War, David Zener was one of those who opposed slavery and would purchase no products produced in the south – the family raised sheep and even imported silk worms and planted Mulberry Trees to feed them so they could weave all their own clothing. The name Zener is spelled various ways the most common being Zener or Zenor but those were not the only ones.

Guy’s parents were born in Indiana, but they had moved to Illinois by the time he was born. He lived there until 1900 when the family returned to Marshall County, Indiana. By 1909 he had moved yet again, this time to Lorain, Ohio. He was in Dickson County, Tennessee for awhile, but had returned to Indiana by 1917 when his son Meredith was born in Starke County.

He worked as a rigger in a shipyard, as a railroad fireman, and as a civil engineer in Lorain, Ohio. When his first wife, Arizona Baker died in 1919, he gave his children, Margaret and Meredith, to his brother Charles to raise. After he remarried, he took his daughter back, but not his son. A stroke in 1942 left him confined to a wheelchair.

Emma moved with her parents to Arkansas in 1935. The next few years found the family living in Arizona and then California before returning to Arkansas in 1939.

When her father left the family in Arkansas, she took her ill mother and younger brother and sister back to Indiana in 1940 to live with her aunt, Lucy Sudlow, in Starke County, Indiana. While there she met and married Meredith Lockridge. Together they raised her brother, Oliver, and sister, Roseltha.

Emma and her husband moved to Arkansas in 1959, living first in Newton County and then in Boone County, where they remained until their deaths.

She was a homemaker, church worker, and 4-H leader for 35 years.

Dan’s father, Lot Wright, who was born somewhere in Pennsylvania about 1811, moved to Hancock County, Indiana, around 1832. He left for “the West” when he was about 23 and eventually arrived in Utah where he met and married Emily. He was primarily employed as a blacksmith, but also did some farming. In his midfifties he apparently suffered a stroke and was partially paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.

The Smith family left Knox County, Indiana, about 1834 for Rapides Parish, Louisiana. Ambrose’s parents had a cotton plantation, as well as a house in New Orleans. Julia Rainey had several children from her previous marriage that became part of his household. During his first marriage, Ambrose lived in Kentucky, but later took the children to Louisiana after their mother’s death. In 1859 he purchased land in Lawrence County, Arkansas. Shortly after the town of Portia was opened on the railroad, Ambrose moved there. He was a dry goods merchant, a druggist, and a land merchant.

William lived in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana, then in 1858, his family moved to Walnut Township, Marshall County, Indiana. He enlisted as a Private in Company A, 53rd Regiment of the Indiana Infantry Volunteers at Michigan City, Indiana, in April 1865. After being honorably discharged at Louisville, Kentucky, in July 1865, he returned to Marshall County and took up farming. He and his young family moved in 1882 to West Olive Township, Ottawa County, Michigan, then to Lowell Township, Kent County, Michigan, in 1890.

Meredith moved to Lorain, Ohio, in 1919 with his family but returned to Indiana the same year. He lived in Fulton County and then Starke County until 1959 when he left for Arkansas.

He was a farmer and a carpenter, but worked as a Standard Oil gas salesman and delivery man in Indiana. He also worked in a wood product factory in Arkansas. He was unaware it was his uncle who was raising him until he was told at age 21.

He served on the town council in Everton, Arkansas and helped to get the town streets paved.
