John migrated to Brown County, Minnesota, in the late 1860’s but there is no evidence that his parents ever left Indiana.

John and Sarah had a double wedding ceremony with Sarah’s twin sister Martha Ann, who married Alford Keech. In 1880 John and Sarah were living in Blue Earth County, Minnesota, in a household headed by Alford Keech. Later they moved to Madelia, Minnesota, where John manufactured brooms from corn that he raised. John, who was known as quite a machinist, manufactured window stops and a door check in 1889. Subsequently he worked in several different machine shops. By 1900 John and Sarah were divorced.

Jesse Long emigrated from Carroll County, Indiana, to Otter Lake, Lapeer County, Michigan, in 1894. He then moved to Quincy, Adams County, Illinois, in 1909 and to Laurel, Yellowstone County, Montana, in 1915.

Jesse’s father, Noah A. Long, was a veteran of the U.S. Army Cavalry, serving in the 1890-1893 Indian uprisings. He was deeply involved in American Legion activities in Indiana. After his divorce from Rachel (Eltzroth) Long in 1891, he continued to live in Cutler until his death.

Jesse William Long worked for his stepfather in various creameries in Michigan and Illinois until 1909 when he began working as a railroad switchman.

He was employed as a driver for the Gem City Transfer in Quincy, Illinois, where he spent most of his life. George emigrated from Carroll County, Indiana, to Otter Lake, Lapeer County, Michigan, in 1894 and moved to Quincy, Adams County, Illinois, in 1909.

Charles and Catherine’s daughter, Mary Ann, was left a widow with eight children at age 33 when her husband, George Hendrickson, died of Civil War injuries. She raised the children and never remarried. She died at age 72 in 1917 at Berkeley, California.

George immigrated to Indiana about 1822 from Licking County, Ohio. He lived in four Indiana counties: Sullivan, Greene, Clay, and Putnam. He emigrated from Indiana about 1826 to Schuyler County, Missouri.

George enlisted in the War of 1812 in Virginia and was a lieutenant. Sometime after the war, he followed other members of his family who were moving west. George was a devout believer in the Methodist faith. Upon settling in Iowa, he opened his home on Sundays for public classes and prayer meetings, which he conducted.
