Carmie Nicholson lived in Indiana most of her life. Although born in Kansas, her family returned to Indiana in 1882. She went to Albuquerque, NM in 1902 with her brother, who had lost his wife to tuberculosis. William Clarence Wysong followed her there and they married in Albuquerque. They remained there until 1903 and returned to Indiana in 1905. After William died, Carmie and their children lived in Oklahoma for the years 1907-1922. She married James Tabor in 1921 and soon after returned to Indiana, where she remained for the rest of her life.

William Clarence Wysong lived in Indiana for most of his life. He was born in Missouri but his parents moved back to Indiana when he was about 2 years old. He married in Albuquerque, NM while living there from 1902-1903 and was again in New Mexico between 1905 and 1906. William died from typhoid fever and pneumonia on 30 June 1906 in Parke Co., Indiana.

Robert Bruce Bascom was born in Switzerland County, Indiana in 1839 to Carley H. Bascom and Elizabeth Potter. He enlisted as a musician in the company band of the 16th Indiana Infantry. He mustered out on 23 May 1862 in Washington, D.C.

He first married Margaret Littlefield on 1 Mar 1863 in Switzerland County. Margaret died on 15 May 1866. They had one child, Edward H. Bascom. On 4 November 1866, Robert married Olive Bovard in Ohio County, Indiana. Olive was born in 1847 and was the daughter of Isaac C. Bovard and Ursula Shepherd. Robert and Olive had nine children and lived in Ohio County where Robert worked as a farmer and dry goods merchant.

Robert died on 10 Mar 1907 in Ohio County. Olive died many years later, in 1926, also in Ohio County. They were buried in Littlefield Cemetery in Switzerland County, Indiana, along with their daughter, Jessie Florence Bascom.

Thomas was a farmer. According to information in the Wishard genealogy book, the Wishards and the Thomas Swiney families moved to the newly-formed free state of Indiana to escape the issues related to slavery that existed in the slave state of Kentucky.

Nathan Perry France was born and raised in Indiana. He studied at seminary out of state but returned to Indiana afterwards to spend his life as a preacher for the United Brethren Church of Christ in 15 cities throughout the southern part of the state. He retired in Anderson, where he died in 1963.

Carrie Catherine Arford was born and raised in Indiana. She attended college out of state but returned to Indiana afterwards to spend her life as a preacher’s wife, travelling with her husband who was a preacher for the United Brethren Church of Christ in 15 cities throughout the southern part of the state.

Glen was a Jay County native and a farmer. He was a member of Portland Moose Lodge for 45 years. His obituary appeared in The Muncie (Indiana) Star on 28 June 1985.

Gordon France was the youngest of three sons born to Rev. Nathan Perry France and Carrie Catherine Arford of Grant Co., IN. He attended the University of Indianapolis and graduated magna cum laude in 1933. He served as class president and was active in the school’s tennis and baseball teams. In 2001, members of his baseball team were admitted to the University of Indianapolis Hall of Fame in recognition of their 13-0 season during Gordon’s senior year. He later served on the Board of Trustees for the University and became Trustee Emeritus. Hewas also involved in civic affairs for the community of Anderson, IN where he was active on the school board, the city council, the board of the YMCA, various non-profit community organizations, the Masons, Kiwanis, and the Boy Scouts of America. He was also active with the United Brethren/Methodist Church.

He spent most of his life in Indiana except for a brief period during World War II when he was living in Ohio and working towards the war effort. After the war, he returned to Indiana where he remained until his death in 2009.

Rev. James Lee and his family came to Indiana in 1817. They settled in Prairie Creek Twp., Vigo Co. and as a circuit minister, Rev. Lee helped to found the Prairie Creek Baptist Church, which is still active today. His burial marker was placed by the DAR and cites his service in the Revolutionary War as a private in the 10th NC Continental Line.

Ira was born in Ohio to Nathan Compton and Sarah Jane Hawkins. He was settled in Montgomery County, Indiana by the 1840s and married first, Martha Campbell, and then Judith Vaughn. Judith was the daughter of James Vaughn and Nancy Jones. Both Ira and Judith are buried at Bunker Hill Cemetery.

Frank Albert was a carpenter and cabinet maker by trade. He came to Indiana with his parents sometime between 1870 and 1880 from Ohio. His parents eventually moved a bit farther west to Delaware County but Frank and his family remained in Jay County. Three of his sons returned to Ohio and raised their families there.
