William was born and grew up with his parents and siblings in Randolph County, Indiana. On 9 August 1862, he enlisted in the Sixty-ninth Indiana Volunteer Infantry, Company D. He served until his death on 5 February 1863 at the age of 21. He died of consumption in St Louis, Missouri, and was brought back to Randolph County, where he was buried at the Union Chapel Methodist Cemetery in Carlos.

John Guffy Puntenney lived in Wabash Township, Parke Co., Indiana all his life. He was the son of Aquilla and Elenor (Headley) Puntenney, who migrated from Ohio to Indiana in 1818. Aquilla acquired several acres in Wabash Township through a land bounty grant which he received for his service in the War of 1812. As a young man, John ran a general store in Armiesburg, Indiana but soon returned to his family farm where spent the rest of his life as a farmer. John and his wife, Margaret, had two daughters, Ethel and Minnie. John was known among his friends and neighbors as honest, quiet, and unassuming. He was a Republican who supported Prohibition, and was a member of the Methodist Church.

Peter Creager was the son of Adam and Christina (Hoffert) Creager. Adam was a Revolutionary War veteran. Peter Creager settled in what is now Whitley Co., IN in 1836. He migrated from Maryland in 1812 with his first wife, Eve Ahlbach, to Montgomery Co., OH. Eve died there in 1812. He left for Indiana with his second wife, Elizabeth Rike/Reich in 1835. The family burial site is at the Cleveland Family/Old Cleveland Cemetery in Whitley Co., Indiana. While Peter’s stone has been lost, the graves of several of Peter’s immediate family can be seen there.
