Joseph moved from Ohio County, Indiana, to Russell County, Kansas, about 1900. He farmed for a number of years in the Kennebec Community south of the Smoky River, then lived in Bunker Hill, before retiring to Russell. He was the grandfather of 1996 Republican presidential candidate Robert J. Dole.

Peter Creager was the son of Adam and Christina (Hoffert) Creager. Adam was a Revolutionary War veteran. Peter Creager settled in what is now Whitley Co., IN in 1836. He migrated from Maryland in 1812 with his first wife, Eve Ahlbach, to Montgomery Co., OH. Eve died there in 1812. He left for Indiana with his second wife, Elizabeth Rike/Reich in 1835. The family burial site is at the Cleveland Family/Old Cleveland Cemetery in Whitley Co., Indiana. While Peter’s stone has been lost, the graves of several of Peter’s immediate family can be seen there.

Christopher immigrated to near Vernon, Jennings County, Indiana, in 1851, and emigrated from Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana, in 1854. He served in the 3rd Regiment, Company F, Minnesota Volunteers in the Civil War. He was a veterinary surgeon and worked with the fire department for ten years. He had acquired a competence in the manufacture of patent medicines and had investments in real estate. He was a member of the Masons, I.O.O.F., and A.O.U.W.
