Solomon and his second wife, Elizabeth, moved to Mentone, Kosciusko County, Indiana, in 1839, locating two miles south of Mentone. Solomon was a prosperous farmer. In 1848 he registered his stock mark as follows: a swallow fork in the left ear and under bit in the same, a crop and under bit in the right ear.

Three years after Elizabeth’s death in 1841, Solomon married Sarah McCombs and after the tax assessment of 1864, they moved on to Cedar County, Iowa.

Johannes arrived in the United States and Indiana in 1875. He renounced allegiance to the emperor of Germany and was naturalized in 1876. He remained in Indiana until at least early 1888 when he was listed in the Union Township, Shelby County Road Tax before starting west. His fourth child, John Minrod, was born in April 1888 in Hartford, Kansas.

Nathan grew up in Grant County, Indiana, and moved with his parents to Ironton, Sauk County, Wisconsin, about 1852. He moved to New Sharon, Mahaska County, Iowa, around 1868. By 1872, he was in Clay County, Iowa. He served in the 12th Wisconsin Infantry. The 1900 census listed his occupation as capitalist. It also said that Hannah had had 13 children, nine of which were still living.

Mark came to Indiana before 1822, living in Wayne, Henry, and Grant counties, and emigrated in 1852 to the Little Baraboo Valley, Wisconsin, a Quaker settlement. He became one of the justices in the town of Woodland, Wisconsin, when it was formed in 1857. He was a Quaker preacher and sold land to the Baraboo Monthly Meeting for the Friendswood burial ground. The family moved on to Iowa in 1865. While he did not serve in the Civil War, two or three of his sons did.
