Solomon and his second wife, Elizabeth, moved to Mentone, Kosciusko County, Indiana, in 1839, locating two miles south of Mentone. Solomon was a prosperous farmer. In 1848 he registered his stock mark as follows: a swallow fork in the left ear and under bit in the same, a crop and under bit in the right ear.
Three years after Elizabeth’s death in 1841, Solomon married Sarah McCombs and after the tax assessment of 1864, they moved on to Cedar County, Iowa.
