Other Information:

Dona’s first name given at birth was spelled “Donna.” When she enlisted in the US Army on 26 Nov 1957 she had to furnish a copy of her birth certificate. It was then that a clerical error made on her birth certificate was discovered. The doctor who had filled out and signed the birth certificate misspelled her first name as “Dona.” The US Army Enlistment Office told her that in order to enlist she had to use the spelling given on the birth certificate or postpone enlisting until she received a corrected birth certificate. Well she liked the new spelling and the story behind it and rather than having the error corrected she kept and used the new spelling for the rest of her life.

Dona met U.S. Army Spec. Chester Ray Sinclair Sr. on a bus in Frankfurt, Germany in 1958. They were married (under German Law) on December 21, 1959 in Frankfurt, Germany and then were married again on the next day, December 22, 1959 by a US Army Chaplain under American law. She always said that she was, “twice married but never divorced.”
