Robert’s parents came to Indiana from Butler, Pennsylvania. Robert quit school after the fourth grade. He also lost an eye while chopping wood, but after marrying and having a family, he earned a degree in Civil Engineering.

Local citizens razzed him about leaving home at age 62 to build houses in Barrington, Illinois. He not only won contracts to build them, but his houses were featured in the Roto Gravure section of the Chicago Tribune.

After the banks failed in 1933, he made his home in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his daughter Margaret.

Charles moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1926 and then moved to Arizona after his retirement. He was a real estate developer. He built the Tides Hotel & Bath Club resort in the late 1930’s. The town of Redington Beach was created in 1944 and is named after him, as are North Redington Beach and Redington Shores, Florida. They had 2 sons and 3 daughters.

Christopher immigrated to near Vernon, Jennings County, Indiana, in 1851, and emigrated from Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana, in 1854. He served in the 3rd Regiment, Company F, Minnesota Volunteers in the Civil War. He was a veterinary surgeon and worked with the fire department for ten years. He had acquired a competence in the manufacture of patent medicines and had investments in real estate. He was a member of the Masons, I.O.O.F., and A.O.U.W.
