In 1805 Lewis came to Indiana and lived in Franklin and Shelby counties, Pike Township of Marion County, and Brown Township of Hendricks County before emigrating in 1852.

Lewis was the youngest of ten children. His father was born in 1760 in Halifax, Virginia, and was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. Lewis’ grandfather Robert Glidewell was a soldier in the French-Indian War and owned a tobacco plantation in Halifax County, Virginia, where he was born in 1722. After Abi (Earles) Black was widowed, she brought her six children to northern Missouri where she met and married Lewis Glidewell who was a widower.

Elizabeth lived north of Connersville in Fayette County; in Indianapolis, Marion County; and in New Britton and Noblesville in Hamilton County. After John Conner died, she lost the large farm and moved to Noblesville, where she did sewing in a shop. In March 1885, she, her second husband, and daughters Nell and Leota went to Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Lavina went to live with her Grandmother Conner in Indianapolis. Hiram went to live with his Uncle Ham in Nebraska.

He served as Treasurer of Jackson County, South Dakota, and Postmaster of Kyle and Interior, South Dakota. At the time of his death in 1950, he was City Treasurer of Interior.

Moses was married 16 June 1842 in Dubois County, Indiana, to Amanda Melvina Susan Twitty, born about 1820 to Buford and Rebeckah (Brittain) Twitty. They had one child, Elvira Demerette (1842-1915) who married Allen Overton Adams.

Three of Nancy’s children moved to Fort Worth, Texas (Mary, Mattie and Moses), while all the others moved to Nebraska. It is not known when they left Indiana.
