In the fall of 1879, Jim, his family, the Andersons, and three other families left Indiana in covered wagons to make their fortunes in the West. After many months, Jim and his family settled in Rooks Bounty, Kansas but left there in 1888 for Boicourt in Linn County, Kansas. Jim owned a feed and grocery store in Boicourt for many years. He was always active in politics. After Minerva died, Jim went to Kansas City where Toss and Kate were and had a grocery there until he died in 1922.

He was co-founder of Webb & Fleming Electric Co. in San Jose.

Lorinda’s great uncle, Aaron Stanton, pioneered in LaPorte County, Indiana, in the early 1800’s. She
moved from Warren, Huntington County, Indiana, to Ashtabula, Ohio, in 1910, but returned to Warren in 1911 after the death of her husband, Gillett. She later moved to San Joseph, Calfornia, in 1929.

Lorinda was a homemaker who also worked as a practical nurse. Her spouse was a blacksmith for 20 years in Warren, Indiana. Her second spouse was the widower of her sister Jeanett and a Jehovah’s Witness pioneer member since its inception as the Russelites.

The 1900 census entry for Berley lists him as a female, aged 11. Berley lived in Wabash Township in Jay County, Indiana, until sometime after 1907 when he moved into the city of Portland. He worked there as a laborer doing body work. By the 1930 census, Berley had moved to Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, when he remained until his death. He was a carpenter by trade as was his father before him.
