Maurice was a baker.  When he first went to Dayton, he worked at the White Baking Company breaking horses for the delivery routes.  He then went to Minneapolis to work in the large mills.  He continued to work in the baking industry in both Columbus, Springfield, and Dayton, Ohio, where he owned several bakeries and restaurants.  He was also owner of Maurice E. Nicholson Bakery Supplies. Maurice was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church in Indianapolis and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton, Ohio.

Maurice lived in Indianapolis from 1907 to late 1920’s. He later lived in Dayton, Ohio (1930, 1937-1947); Minneapolis, Minnesota (1931-2); Columbus, Ohio (1933); Springfield, Ohio (1935); Clayton, Montgomery County, Ohio (1947-1982). Maurice and Helen had four children.  He never lost his love for his home state of Indiana.

Mervin Aldean Cripe lived on a farm in rural Clinton Township, Elkhart County, Indiana until he left home to go to college about 1938. He later lived in Kosciusko County, Indiana from 1954-1961 when he was pastor of the Eel River Church of the Brethren. He retired to the Timbercrest Retirement Home in North Manchester, Indiana in August 1993 and lived there until his death in 2002.

Mervin lived in Chicago, Illinois, while attending seminary at Bethany Theological Seminary (Church of the Brethren). He was pastor at the Swan Creek Church of the Brethren, near Wauseon, Fulton County, Ohio from 1949-1954. He was pastor for many years at the Brook Park Community Church in Brook Park, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland in Cuyahoga County. He lived there from 1961-1993.

Mervin attended Purdue University for three years from 1938-1941. He then participated in Civilian Public Service work for the duration of the war. He worked at the University of Maryland in the Dairy Department, spending time at College Park and at Bowie during his CPS days. By this time, he knew he wanted to be a minister, so he finished his college work at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia in 1947. Here is where he met his wife. They had been introduced before, but got better acquainted while working together on a college play “The Corn is Green.” Mervin played Morgan Evans and Constance played Miss Moffat.

Frank received a BA from Meiji Gakuin University in 1905. He was the owner and operator of Flucawa’s Flower Gardens on South Memorial Drive in New Castle (1942-1964).

Frank lived in Tokyo, Japan (1883-1905); Indianapolis (1905-1919), Warren Park (1919-1936), and New Castle (1936-1974), Indiana. He became a naturalized citizen in June 1955.

She lived in Haysville, Dubois County, Indiana (1853-1860) and Loogootee, Martin County, Indiana (1860-1893).

Johann lived near Haysville, Dubois County and Loogootee, Martin County, Indiana.

The Huebners were in Gesees, Oberfranken, Bavaria for at least six generations. Their spouses came from surrounding area. They moved to Wasserkraut (just outside of Pegnitz) circa 1831 and to Haysville, Indiana in 1845.

Johann was a farmer and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The family apparently immigrated as part of a religious movement (Bavaria was to be Catholic at that time).  Additional reasons:  2) Military conscription: John Henry was already in the Army when they came (he came later), and with two more sons it was reasonable.  3) Weather had been very bad for several years – there was a serious draught condition for five years before they migrated.
