The Walden family lived in Virginia until after the close of the Revolutionary War, when they relocated to Woodford County, Kentucky and then to Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana in 1819. They lived in Ellettsville, Monroe County for a time and then settled in Owen County on a property known as Flat Woods.

Other Information:

Daniel Arwine “Reckless” Honeycutt, a salesman for the Nash Motor Company, was shot and killed in Bloomington on May 25, 1925 by Mrs. William Holder after an argument over an automobile. A June 25, 1925 Bloomington Daily Telegraph article described Reckless as the hard-working and reliable owner of three lots in the Driscoll addition. Besides his widow, he left six young children.

William was a well-known playwright and poet who traveled the world. He was New Albany High School’s valedictorian in 1885. William attended Harvard University where he excelled in literature. In 1908 he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Yale.

Harriet, whose family was from Chicago, was eleven years his senior. On their English honeymoon it was discovered that William was going blind. He died the following year, at age forty-one, of complications from a brain tumor.
