George came to Benton County, Indiana about 1916 in order to quit working in a foundry. He rented a farm of 240 acres, south of Fowler on R.R. 4, from George Edmunds. Sometime between 1917 and 1922 he contracted tuberculosis. Since the only treatment for tuberculosis prior to 1940 was an environmental change, George and Georgia left their Indiana home in 1922 to move to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where they remained until his death in 1924.
