Amos, the youngest son of Isaac and Anne (Riley) Windsor of Yadkin County, North Carolina, lived a few years in Virginia after marrying Mary McDaniel. Before 1840, Isaac moved his family, including his two oldest children, Amos and Mary, to Rush County, Indiana, where his family increased to at least six children.

In late 1848, Amos purchased 80 acres in Lafayette Township of Allen County, Indiana, and was living there with Aquilla, William R., Frances, Elizabeth A., and Mary M. at the time of the 1850 census. Sometime between 1860 and 1870, Amos and his second wife moved to Benton Harbor, Berrien County, Michigan. Amos, a farmer, died there of typhoid fever, at the age of 72.

Riley emigrated from North Carolina to Liberty, Hendricks County, Indiana, in 1840. He resided in Hendricks and Morgan counties and then immigrated from Indiana about 1855 to Gentry County, Missouri. Later Riley and Lovey moved to Wayne County, Iowa, and from there moved to Mercer County, Missouri.

Arthur and Mary left Indiana prior to 1911 and went to Patton Station, Lawrence County, Illinois. They moved to western Illinois around World War I to join up with Arthur’s brother, Cyrus Austin. They moved to Wood River Township, Madison County, Illinois.

Arthur found work at the Western Cartridge Company, which is now the world-renown ammunitions and chemical manufacturer, Olin Corporation. Olin was founded at East Alton, Madison County, Illinois, in 1892 and is best known for supplying ammunition in time of war. Its most famous line is the Winchester Rifle and cartridges. Arthur worked for Western for 25 years before retiring in 1948.

They lived in Crawford and Knox counties while in Indiana.
