Ida lived at Eddy, DeKalb County, Indiana, and Michigan City, La Porte County, Indiana. She emigrated from Indiana to Phillipsburg, Phillips County, Kansas, in 1885 and returned to Indiana, where child Nellie was born at Mertz, DeKalb County, in 1891. She then went to Michigan City, La Porte County, Indiana, and finally to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

John Frank immigrated to the United States from Germany with his parents about 1840. Sophia moved to Spencer County, Indiana, in 1854. John and Sophia emigrated from Indiana in 1860 to Manhattan, Riley County, Kansas. John served during the Civil War in Company G, 11th Kansas Cavalry. In the 1870’s he operated an inn in Manhattan, Kansas. He moved to Pottawatomie County, Kansas, about 1876.
